Newly appointed Detective Charlie Burkoski (fourth from right) began his career in public safety in February 2013 as a dispatcher with IXP, serving the Lawrence Police Department. After showing tremendous leadership abilities, he was promoted to Chief Training Operator in April 2014. In January 2017, Charlie was hired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department (NYC), where he served until September 2020, when he rejoined Lawrence Police as a police officer. Burkoski has quickly shown that he’s not only capable, but highly effective in investigative work. With a broad skill set, he remains a valued asset to both the department and the Lawrence community, according to a social media post by Police Chief Kevin Reading and the department.
